Cebu Pacific Trick: Save 100, pay 300 more!

That should how it really read in Cebu Pacific's website. But of course, it's not presented that way. In the website, during the booking process, you will see that you can save 100 pesos if you buy this promo. If you don't have checkin baggage, you can save this small amount. So for light flyers, this is a good deal.

For many, this is a trap. There's a small popup that tells you the limit for carry on luggage is 10kg. For most flyers who are used to using standard cabin size bags/tolleys, this is a blind spot. We don't "see" it as a threat.

If you are over this 10kg limit, you're going to be charged 400php penalty. Thus the statement I made at the start! What a tricky way to earn money! I hate them for it. If you share the feeling, warn all your friends!

The hand carry weight limit is actually 7 kg. I believe that frontline crew are instructed to look for passengers with "overweight" looking bags/trolleys and step hard on them to "extract' the Php400.00 penalty! So really, as mentioned, you save Php100.00 when you book your golite ticket, but when you need to check in your "overweight" trolley/bag, you're going to be charged Php400.00 even if it doesn't go beyond your 15kg checkin limit.

off-topic, but i wanted to find out if you can recommend a balikbayan box provider there in HK for sending to Manila. i bought a couple of toys from a Causeway Bank store and need to have it picked up and sent to my Philippine address. LBC requires that the empty balikbayan box be picked up from them, which the store doesn't want to do. thanks!
